Summer, Lemonade, and Tooth Decay

NOW JUST WHO COULD REFUSE THIS WINNING SMILE?

Not me!  I am a sucker for a kid with a sticky glass of lemonade. Boy how inflation has affected those little dixie cups.  Gone are the days of 10 cents a glass! Summer brings some great winning combinations like sunshine, lemonade, and lots of laughter. Unfortunately, it can also bring cavities.  All those yummy glasses of sweet tea add up to disaster for our pearly whites.

SUMMER HYGIENE TIP!
REPLACE THE SUGAR WITH A SUGAR SUBSTITUTE.

Many people don't know that the bacteria in our mouths are not fed by things like Stevia, Splenda, or Equal.  Substitutes don't cause cavities!  So enjoy the fun drinks that summer brings.  Just be aware that Gatorade, Lemonade, Sweet Tea, Sports Drinks, etc do contain a lot of sugar and can be highly acidic.  So, if you can't skip the sugar... follow it up with a nice cool glass of water to rinse out some of the offending sugars/acids.
