Dr. Coambs, her husband Ed and their son Blaine |
Cancer is something that has hit close to home for me. My husband Ed was diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer two years ago. The diagnosis couldn't have come at a scarier time. Ed and I where anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first child in just three short months. Fortunately through the skillful hands of a wonderful surgeon, Ed's melanoma was removed and he was fully recovered in time for the birth of our son. After that experience it has become important to me to find fun ways to help fight cancer.
That is why this summer I participated in the
24hrs of Booty charity bike ride hosted in Myers Park. This event each summer raises funds to support wonderful organizations such as the
Levine Cancer Center and
Lance Armstrong Foundation.
During the bike ride I enjoyed being surrounded by a community of people passionately committed to making a difference in the fight against cancer. I am so grateful to live and work in such a wonderful community of people.
